Patagonia Black Hole Wheeled Duffel 70L

Our midsized Black Hole™ duffel is perfect for gear-intensive weekends or multiweek travel.

If you’ve ever watched a week’s worth of your dirty clothes appear piece by piece on the airport carousel, then you know the value of a burly roller bag. Tough and highly weather-resistant, this bomber bag protects your gear from the scuffs and scrapes of wayward journeys. Its zippered U-shaped lid—with two zippered internal mesh pockets on the underside to keep small items organized—offers quick and easy access to the main compartment. A zippered exterior pocket provides a secure and handy spot for your boarding pass, energy bar or paperback. The sturdy frame sheet protects the duffel from baggage-handler abuse and keeps your Black Hole™ upright, even when it’s loaded to the max. Oversized wheels deliver a smooth ride, whether you’re crossing the tarmac or following a cobblestone street. Carrying options include the main webbing handles (with snap closure); a 2-position, telescoping handle; or the two haul loops on either end. You can lash additional gear to the outside with the four corner-mounted daisy chains. Made from 15-oz 900-denier polyester ripstop (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. |

Technology

Patagonia’s Mission Statement: Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing – as well as for skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running. These are all silent sports. None require a motor; none deliver the cheers of a crowd. In each sport, reward comes in the form of hard-won grace and moments of connection between us and nature.

Our values reflect those of a business started by a band of climbers and surfers, and the minimalist style they promoted. The approach we take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility.

For us at Patagonia, a love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them, and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of our planet. We donate our time, services and at least 1% of our sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide.

We know that our business activity – from lighting stores to dyeing shirts – creates pollution as a by-product. So we work steadily to reduce those harms. We use recycled polyester in many of our clothes and only organic, rather than pesticide-intensive, cotton.

Staying true to our core values during thirty-plus years in business has helped us create a company we're proud to run and work for. And our focus on making the best products possible has brought us success in the marketplace.

The bluesign® Standard

The bluesign® standard brings together the entire textile manufacturing supply chain to jointly reduce the ecological footprint of the apparel production process. Instead of focusing on finished product testing, the bluesign® standard analyzes all input streams – from raw materials and chemical components to resources – with a sophisticated “Input Stream Management” process. Prior to production, components are assessed based on their eco-toxicological impact and risk. Potentially harmful substances can hence be eliminated before production even begins.

The bluesign® standard addresses consumers’ growing desire for quality products that also meet the highest criteria regarding sustainability. Due to its holistic and systematic approach, the bluesign® standard ensures that components and procedures used along the supply chain are as harmless to human beings and the environment as possible. Products made according the bluesign® standard thus meet the highest standards of consumer protection, resource efficiency, and worker health and safety.
