Patagonia Bulkley River Pants

Steelhead, salmon, trout...they aren't called "coldwater" fisheries for nothing. But the answer for chilly wading and cool weather is simple: insulator pants. Our latest version is made with moisture-wicking, low-bulk polyester Regulator® R1® fleece and tapered Capilene® 4 cuffs for a smooth, secure transition at the ankles. Insulators fit like your favorite pair of sweatpants, layer easily and provide an almost guilt-inducing level of coziness between waders and baselayer. An elasticized, brushed tricot-lined waist with drawcord, zippered fly, two front, tricot-lined pockets with security snaps and a horizontal zippered hip pocket complete the package for maximum comfort and convenience. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program., Moisture-wicking, low-bulk polyester Regulator® R1® fleece, Elasticized, brushed tricot-lined constructed waist with drawcord and fly, Two tricot-lined pockets in front with security snaps, tricot-lined hip pocket with horizontal zipper, Tapered Capilene® 4 polyester cuffs for a low bulk, secure fit at the ankles, R1®: Polartec® Power Dry® 6.5-oz 93% polyester (60% recycled)/7% spandex single-sided fleece. Technology

POLARTEC® : THERMAL FABRICS

The primary insulation layer among experienced outdoor enthusiasts for nearly two decades, Polartec® fabrics are available in a variety of unique textures and weights designed specifically to enhance performance in a variety of environs.

Polartec® Power Dry®
Moisture and high relative humidity next to the skin cause discomfort. Polartec® Power Dry® keeps the skin dry through three complementary mechanisms:

      1)  The fabric is highly breathable and does not restrict the movement of moisture vapor.
      2)  "Touch points" on the fabric inner surface draw moisture. Sweat is wicked off the skin to the outside of the fabric where it spreads rapidly for evaporation. Polartec® Power Dry® fabrics move at least 30% more moisture away from the skin than single-component fabrics.
      3)  When the sweat reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out on the outer surface of the fabric, enabling it to dry at least 2 times faster than cotton.

Benefits

Superior wicking action
Keeps your skin dry when you sweat
Highly breathable
Dries quickly
Comfortable next-to-skin
Machine washable

Recycled Polyester:

To Patagonia, quality means more than how a garment looks or functions: It also includes the way it affects the environment and quality of life. This means working to source materials and develop processes that minimize damage to the environment.

In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health. Over the course of 13 years, we saved some 86 million soda bottles from the trash heap. That’s enough oil to fill the 40-gallon gas tank of the diminutive Chevy Suburban 20,000 times.

Today, we're able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene baselayers, shell jackets and board shorts, as well as fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable second quality fabrics and worn out garments into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes. We've also started the world's first garment recycling program – bring us your old, worn-out Capilene baselayer, Patagonia fleece or Polartec® fleece (from any maker) and we'll make a new polyester garment from it using an innovative process developed by our friends at TEJIN.

Benefits of recycled polyester:

Lessens dependence on oil
Curbs discards, thereby prolonging landfill life and reducing toxic emissions from incinerators
Helps to promote a new recycling stream for polyester clothing that is no longer wearable
Creates less air, water and soil contamination
