Polartec® Power Dry®
Moisture and high relative humidity next to the skin cause discomfort. Polartec® Power Dry® keeps the skin dry through three complementary mechanisms:
1) The fabric is highly breathable and does not restrict the movement of moisture vapor.
2) "Touch points" on the fabric inner surface draw moisture. Sweat is wicked off the skin to the outside of the fabric where it spreads rapidly for evaporation. Polartec® Power Dry® fabrics move at least 30% more moisture away from the skin than single-component fabrics.
3) When the sweat reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out on the outer surface of the fabric, enabling it to dry at least 2 times faster than cotton.
Benefits
Superior wicking action
Keeps your skin dry when you sweat
Highly breathable
Dries quickly
Comfortable next-to-skin
Machine washable

Polartec® Windpro®
Proprietary yarns and a very tight construction greatly reduce the effects of windchill, the Achilles heel of traditional fleece. We have proven its effectiveness both in the lab and in the field. Polartec® Wind Pro® blocks the wind 4x more than traditional fleece.
The Durable Water Repellent outer surface sheds rain and snow. Velour or pebbled inner surfaces efficiently trap air and provide a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Both surfaces of these fabrics are finished for maximum durability and pill-free performance. They retain their insulating ability and original appearance after repeated use and laundering.
Because it is not a laminate, Polartec® Wind Pro® is also highly breathable, maintaining 85% of the breathability of traditional fleece to keep you from overheating.
Benefits
4 times more wind resistant than traditional fleece
Warmth without weight
Highly breathable
Water repellent
Durable
Machine washable

Recycled Polyester:
To Patagonia, quality means more than how a garment looks or functions: It also includes the way it affects the environment and quality of life. This means working to source materials and develop processes that minimize damage to the environment.
In 1993, we adopted fleece into our product line made from post consumer recycled plastic soda bottles. We were the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to do so. PCR® clothing was a positive step towards a more sustainable system – one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people’s health. Over the course of 13 years, we saved some 86 million soda bottles from the trash heap. That’s enough oil to fill the 40-gallon gas tank of the diminutive Chevy Suburban 20,000 times.
Today, we're able to utilize more sources for recycled polyester and offer it on more garments such as Capilene baselayers, shell jackets and board shorts, as well as fleece. We now recycle used soda bottles, unusable second quality fabrics and worn out garments into polyester fibers to produce many of our clothes. We've also started the world's first garment recycling program – bring us your old, worn-out Capilene baselayer, Patagonia fleece or Polartec® fleece (from any maker) and we'll make a new polyester garment from it using an innovative process developed by our friends at TEJIN.
Benefits of recycled polyester:
Lessens dependence on oil
Curbs discards, thereby prolonging landfill life and reducing toxic emissions from incinerators
Helps to promote a new recycling stream for polyester clothing that is no longer wearable
Creates less air, water and soil contamination
