Quick-drying, warm-weather trekking, climbing and backpacking pants made of stretch-nylon fabric, with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish and 40-UPF sun protection For slickrock canyons, high alpine country or vertical granite walls, these are our most versatile trekking, climbing and backpacking pants. They have a resilient, stretchy blend of 95% nylon (60% recycled) and 5% spandex that feels lightweight against the skin, resists abrasion, and provides 40-UPF sun protection. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish sheds water. The waist has a zip fly, a low-profile snap closure, offset beltloops and stretch elastic side panels for a personalized fit. A gusseted crotch and articulated knees let you move freely. Mesh-lined front pockets increase airflow; zippered security pockets on each thigh keep your topos and energy bars within reach. Inseam (size 32) is 32. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program. Technology

Lacking fur, feathers or scales, we humans have to think up clever ways to protect ourselves from the sun. Products with the UPF designation provide built-in sun protection that won’t wear off.
To achieve sun protection, we take a varied approach, depending on the degree desired and the fabric used. Elements of the strategy can range from yarn selection to fabric construction to the use of special finishes (especially for light colors). Patagonia products with rated UPF protection are tested independently to meet Australia/New Zealand or AATCC protocols. A rating of 15-24 earns a product a rating of “good”; a rating of 25-39 is "very good"; and a rating of 40-50+ is “excellent.” *
* When tested in accordance with Australian/New Zealand test methods AS/NZS 4399 or AATCC 183/ASTM6603/ASTM D6544.
